| Synopsis:
Jerry works in his father-in-law's car dealership and has gotten himself in financial problems. He tries various schemes to come up with money needed for a reason that is never really explained. It has to be assumed that his huge embezzlement of money from the dealership is about to be discovered by father-in-law. When all else falls through, plans he set in motion earlier for two men to kidnap his wife for ransom to be paid by her wealthy father (who doesn't seem to have the time of day for son-in-law). From the moment of the kidnapping, things go wrong and what was supposed to be a non-violent affair turns bloody with more blood added by the minute. Jerry is upset at the bloodshed, which turns loose a pregnant sheriff from Brainerd, MN who is tenacious in attempting to solve the three murders in her jurisdiction. |

| Customer Reviews: Coen Brothers Early Films February 11, 2010 Hertzel Grotch (Lexington VA USA) Bought as a gift for an old friend. He was thrilled to receive the collection and has enjoyed the films. Told me every time he watches one, he thinks of his old pal.
Great Set of Movies from a Great Pair of Directors June 24, 2009 J. Holder (Wylie, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We really enjoyed these. I had just recently got turned onto the Coen Brothers, and once I found that I liked many of their recent movies, I found this box set! Their older flicks are wonderful too!
A Great Collection That is Not To Be Missed! March 21, 2009 Lynn Ellingwood (Webster, NY United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This collection contains terrific films. The culminating wonder is Fargo but Raising Arizona, Barton Fink and Blood Simple are terrific too. Miller's Crossing is not one of my favorites but others love it much more than I do. All show an increasingly strong work of great filmmakers and skilled directors, producers and writers. The actors do wonderful jobs too. Everything is superlative.

I bought this set because BLOOD SIMPLE was impossible to find at the time. The quality is alright, nothing special.
They are all good films, and the set is worth it for that reason alone.
The Coen's at their best! December 26, 2008 Lisa Jacobsen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Coen Brothers are full of creativity and originality. I have always been a fan of "Raising Arizona" and "Fargo", but I only recently watched the other 3 in this collection.
I was mesmerized by the suspenseful "Blood Simple", and John Goodman gives an amazing performance in the thriller, "Barton Fink", which is now one of my favorites. All of their movies are well-written and unique, so I will always be excited to see any new one they come out with.
This is a collection for a true fan of the suspense/noir/black comedy genres!
